Impressions
The real image is not understood well though Takenaka-Hanbei is widely known as Hideyoshi's Gunsi (a tactician). It is not an exaggeration to say that only the virtual image will have walked by oneself by the creation after ages.
Alive externals as his civil wars general come into view when the dramatized part is removed.
He was born to the powerful clan in Mino province, and became a direct retainer of Nobunaga, and served as Hideyoshi's officer (aide). It can be said that it is one person of excellent generals who took part in some battles with Hideyoshi.
Hanbei's military duty was choryaku (Persuade enemy's generals, and win them over to his side).
It seems that Hanbei didn't played the role as Gunsi (tactician) of the Hideyoshi army drawn by the creation.
Moreover, there are not too a lot of his achievements because Hanbei has died young either. (Do not reach far compared with colleague's achievement. ex.@Hachisuka-Koroku and Maeno-Nagayasu.)
Even if you see the above-mentioned, it is difficult to say to have contributed to Hideyoshi's enterprise (the unification of whole country) very much; however, I feel an attraction in the human nature of Hanbei.
When Odera-Kanbei went to persuade Araki-Murashige, oppositely was confined, Hanbei was bold to refuge to Kanbei's son, Shojumaru, to disobey the order of Nobunaga.
I'm attracted that Hanbei acted up to his strong will, no matter who most vassals act on Nobunaga's order.
As for the desire as the necessity, and the desire as correct, he carried out even if becoming disadvantageous against himself. His nature is recalled by these episodes.
Moreover, it would not be possible to succeed the Inabayama castle coup d'etat if there were not excellent resource, plan, or system of him.
I'm interested in Hanbei who has a different attraction from the generals lived through at Warring States Period, for example, Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu.
